Rockdale County Board of Elections reminds public of voting options and new mail-in ballot cards – Reuters


ROCKDALE COUNTY, GA – The Rockdale County Board of Elections is working to ensure citizens can still vote as easily as possible in the upcoming primary, nonpartisan general election on May 24. Runoffs, if required, will take place on June 21.

For this election, voters have the option of voting by mail by post, in-person early voting, including voting on Saturday and Sunday, and in-person on Election Day. Voters are reminded that in-person early voting has been moved to 1115 West Ave., SW, There is no voting in Parker Road.

Any voter wishing to vote by mail by mail must make a request in writing to the Office of the Council of Elections no later than Friday, May 13, 2022. A form for requesting a postal vote is available on the website of the Secretary of State. www.mvp.sos.ga.gov/MVP, as well as information on where to vote, assigned electoral districts, sample ballots from the district or to check the status of their ballot. Last year, the State General Assembly approved the realignment of district lines in the state of Georgia, and as a result, all voters in Rockdale County will begin receiving new district maps beginning in the week of May 9. Based on the redistricting changes, some voters in Rockdale House and Senate constituencies may have changed. Upon receipt of the new constituency maps, voters are encouraged to open the constituency map, locate their Election Day constituency name and polling location, and review their electoral districts. Voters do not need to bring the constituency map with them to vote. The constituency map is for the voter’s record and does not require any action from the voter. The Change of Address portion of the card only needs to be completed if the voter has moved to a different address in Rockdale County.

The timetable for the May 24 elections is as follows:

· May 2-20 – Early Voting Period at 1115 West Ave., Conyers

· May 13 – Last day to request a postal vote

· Weekend Voting: May 14, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and May 15, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

· May 20 – End of early voting

· May 24 – Election Day – 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.

· May 24 – All absentee ballots must be returned to the Board of Elections office by 7 p.m.

· June 21 – Second round of elections, if necessary.
