Several Owasso students participated and placed in the Oklahoma Scholastic Art & Writing Awards 2021.

The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, organized by the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers, recognize students in grades 7 through 12 with exceptional artistic and literary talent. The program provides students with exposure, publication, and scholarship opportunities.

The Owasso High School Art Department entered 21 pieces into the annual program and nine students were recognized for their efforts.

Six students received honorable mentions, including Aidan Green (comic), Alex Valouch (painting), Jaynetao Yang (sculpture), Joseph Stephens (digital art), Morganne Grobe (drawing and illustration), and Trinity Concepcion (comic).

Two other students — Amy Merrick (computational art) and Raegan Whitewater (mixed media) — received a silver key, and Cierra Rizzatto (painting) received a gold key.

Rizzatto will now move on to national championships to compete against top winners across the country. Of the 275 Oklahoma State students who submitted work, 24 individual students received the Gold Key.
