Google has long been rumored to be working on a foldable phone. The Google Pixel Fold has been part of the rumor mill leaks for quite some time. Some reports suggested that Google had abandoned plans to launch the Pixel Fold. However, it seems that the Pixel folding will launch next year. The company hasn’t confirmed any details as of this writing, but a new rumor has revealed the Pixel Fold’s design, price, and other details.
Front Page Tech tipster Jon Prosser has revealed the design of the Pixel Fold. The tipster also revealed the launch timeline for Google’s foldable phone. Let’s take a look at the Google Pixel Fold design renders, price, launch schedule, and other details.
Google Pixel Fold: what it could look like
The Google Pixel Fold is expected to launch in May 2023, most likely during Google I/O. The foldable phone will rival the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4. Prosser, who leaked the Pixel Watch months before its launch, claims that the Pixel Fold will debut for $1,799 (roughly Rs 1,45,900). The price is the same as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4.
The tipster also revealed design renders of Google’s foldable phone. On the outside, the Pixel Fold has the same visor camera module as the Pixel 7 series. The visor doesn’t work end-to-end to house the triple-camera setup on the back. On the left side of the camera module are the LED flash module and the microphones.
The Pixel Fold will have a glass and metal construction. The device will be available in two colors at launch – Chalk and Obsidian. Prosser claims the cover screen will have thin bezels and sport a punch-hole camera in the top center. There will be a 9.5 MP front camera. Inside, there’s a “massive display with massive bezels,” according to Prosser. The top and bottom frames are considerably thicker than the sides. Prosser further revealed that the Pixel Fold has a 9.5MP front camera for the internal screen in the top right corner.
The foldable phone also has two speakers, one on the top and one on the bottom. It will feature the power and volume buttons on the right edge. The power button will also serve as a fingerprint reader.
While Prosser didn’t reveal display specs, DSCC’s Ross Young previously claimed the Pixel Fold would come with a 6.19-inch exterior display. The foldable display will be 8-inches in size, somewhat similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 4. Since Google is now releasing phones with its custom chip, the Pixel Fold could feature the new Tensor G2 or the next generation of it. .
Other details of the Pixel Fold are under wraps. We will share more details as they become available.
