Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District Superintendent Dr. Jim Elsasser released a statement following the incident which read:

“It is with an extremely heavy heart that I write to you today as the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) community has experienced an unfathomable tragedy. Our Kraemer Middle Vice Principal, Moises Plascencia, died by suicide this morning in a staff area on the school campus. Other staff and students were not present and no one witnessed the incident. The Placentia Police Department ( PPD) responded quickly to our request for support.

Moises was much more than a respected assistant manager. He was a father, husband, brother and friend to so many in our school district community. His passing and how it happened left us devastated, confused and heartbroken; however, we ask that you please respect his family’s privacy during this incredibly difficult time.

While we may never figure out or understand why this happened, we know that reaching out to each other during this time for support is essential. Our team of highly trained mental health professionals will be on campus to support Kraemer but also available to support our students, staff and families impacted by this incident across the district. Please contact the secretariat of your school to access these materials.

As Superintendent, I struggle to find the right words to express the shock and grief we are all feeling at this time. Still, I know we will find a way to unite as a community, to care for each other, and to get through this trauma together. Please keep the Plascencia family, Kraemer College, and our entire district community in your thoughts and prayers.
