The Central Council for Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided to abolish the system of assessment of answer sheets in examination centers for the remainder of the class 12 exam on the same day. The revised plan will be put in place. implemented from December 16.

The decision to change the mid-way assessment system came after a circular was issued by the CBSE Exam Supervisor, Sanyam Bharadwaj.

This year, for the first time, the CBSE introduced OMR answer sheets for students and also reduced the exam duration to 90 minutes, due to the COVID-19[female[feminine pandemic. Student OMR answer sheets were first assessed manually by a teacher and then submitted for digital scanning.

However, much confusion ensued among the students when scoring the responses in their OMR sheets. Last week, the CBSE issued a letter asking principals to ensure that students write their correct answer alphabet in capitals next to their answer noted on the OMR sheet. The decision to write the upper case letter of the correct answer next to the scored answer came after many reviewers struggled to differentiate the small letters written by students.

CBSE has now asked to stop manual assessment for exams scheduled for December 16-30 at 14,000 centers.

The official notice also defined a new set of assessment rules according to which schools will first receive password messages through CBSE and then the operation code will be sent at 10:45 am.

It is the school’s responsibility to ensure that questionnaires are printed and distributed to students on time; otherwise, additional time must be allowed for students to complete the questionnaires.

All center superintendents are also advised to wrap, seal and sign the package filled with OMR sheets within 15 minutes of completing the exam. The package of OMR files will then be sent to the Regional Office concerned.

The CBSE further emphasized that the conduct of the examination by equitable means is the sole responsibility of the center director and that any deviation from the safety and security of the examination is subject to action. in the news
